Concept art / Character design
Process
You start by giving me a collection of references and resources to give me an idea of the type of character you would like me to design. During this process, I will offer my opinion and preferences to help you decide, or you can leave it up to me.
1. Initial ideation
I will provide 4+ rough sketches to decide on the general direction of the design.
2. Variations
Once we have decided on a concept, I will create 3+ more detailed sketches to try to determine some of the details and final appearance.
3. Refinement / Color
I will then create a final design based on the selected sketch. I will also provide some color variations that you can select from and/or make adjustments to.
4. Finalize
At this point, I will complete the rest of the character sheet.
Changes and revisions
Major changes and revisions are welcome after 1. Ideation and 2. Variations.
After the 3. Refinement stage, only minor revisions are possible.
Any major revisions after this stage will incur an additional fee, where what constitutes a “major revision” is at the discretion of the artist, but typically involves anything that requires additional work or reworks of specific steps in the process.
Add-ons
Additional design work
If there are particularly important aspects of the character, such as face, hair, props, or vfx, you can also opt for additional design work.
Character Sheet add-ons
Each character sheet comes with:
Clean full-body front and back views, with minimal shading
No more than 4 minor callouts
Commercial usage rights
Additional work can be done on the final design, such as:
Additional rendering polish
Additional poses or expressions
Privacy and NDA
By default, I may stream the design work on public platforms such as Twitch, and I may post the final image or any process images on my social media accounts or portfolio.
If desired, I can avoid revealing the work until a specific date. Please let me know if this is the case.
Get started
Important information to know before getting started!
Schedule
Please allow for 1-2 months for the completion of the design, more if there is an excessive amount of back and forth. Let me know if you have any kind of deadline — even if it is far in the future, which will give me more time to give your design the attention it deserves. If you have a tight deadline, I may charge an additional rush fee.
Payment
I accept payment through Paypal or bank transfer. Payment is upfront only. Work will only begin once payment has been received.
References
If you’re new to getting a character designed, the following information will make it easier for me to understand what you’re looking for:
A verbal description of their appearance, if you have a rough idea (you may not, at this point).
Their personality, backstory, job, hobbies, the world they exist in, anything that might affect the way they look.
Reference images of particular items of clothing you would like them to wear.
A moodboard, which is a collection of images that have the “feel” you are going for.
What you intend on using the character for. For example, for 2d animation, a simpler design may be more appropriate.
